During the third week of November 2026, the Embassy of Italy in Ashgabat will celebrate the 11th edition of the Week of Italian Cuisine in the World, an initiative promoted by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation to showcase Italy’s culinary traditions and the excellence of its agri-food sector.
This year’s edition holds particular significance, as it is the first following the recognition of Italian cuisine as UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage.
The theme selected for 2026 is “Italian Cuisine, UNESCO Heritage: Territories and Excellence in Production Chains,” highlighting local products, the relationship between cuisine and territory, and the knowledge and traditions passed down through generations.
The initiative will also promote the quality, sustainability and diversity of Italian cuisine as an expression of the country’s cultural identity and tradition of conviviality.
