During his official visit to Italy—his first to a European Union country—President Berdimuhamedov was received by President Sergio Mattarella. A major Business Forum organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and the Italian Trade Agency (ICE) was held, attended by Undersecretary of State Giorgio Silli. On this occasion, the “Sistema Italia” (Italian System) met with Turkmen businesses to strengthen existing relationships and develop new collaborations in the fields of energy, transportation, connectivity, infrastructure, textiles, and agri-food. On Saturday, October 25, President Berdimuhamedov and the Mayor of Rome, Roberto Gualtieri, inaugurated the exhibition “Ancient Civilizations of Turkmenistan” at the Capitoline Museums (Palazzo dei Conservatori, October 25, 2025-April 12, 2026). The works on display come from protohistoric Margiana (3rd-2nd millennium BC) and ancient Parthia (Nisa, 2nd century BC – 1st century AD). The completion of such a significant project demonstrates the high level of scientific and academic cooperation between Italy and Turkmenistan. The visit was a resounding success and elevated relations between Italy and Turkmenistan to a new and higher level in all areas of bilateral cooperation. On the economic and commercial front, the partnership between Italy and Turkmenistan is growing significantly and extending to new production sectors.
