Since 2008, Italian language teaching has been conducted at the Italian Studies Department of the “Magtymguly Piragy” State University, Faculty of Foreign Languages and Literatures \u2013 Department of Romance and Germanic Languages, where 150 students are currently enrolled in a five-year language and culture course. The teaching is entrusted to a native Italian lecturer, directly appointed by the company ENI Turkmenistan, which bears the financial burden. At Magtymguly University, some local teachers who graduated from the same University also teach Italian.<\/p>\n
From September 2017, Italian language and culture teaching in Ashgabat has also had a second lecturer, funded by the Italian Government, working with first-year students at the English-language “International Humanities and Development Studies” University.<\/p>\n
